Salary Range : $58,000 - $62,000 annualized, commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.

Job Summary

The Fostering Futures Senior Student Success Coach supports undergraduate and graduate students at UTSA with a history of foster care through a holistic, trauma-informed caseload model, while also serving as the lead trainer and supervisor for the Fostering Futures Student Success Coach team. This role provides individualized coaching, mentorship, and resource navigation to promote academic persistence, personal wellbeing, and timely graduation. The Lead is responsible for developing strategic outreach campaigns, ensuring consistency in coaching practices, and fostering collaboration with campus and community partners to ensure wraparound support and advocacy for students' educational and life success.

Core Responsibilities
  1. Supervises and supports the Fostering Futures Student Success Coaches, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback.
  2. Leads onboarding and ongoing training for Success Coaches, including trauma-informed practices, coaching techniques, and UTSA systems.
  3. Ensures consistency and quality in coaching practices, documentation, and student engagement.
  4. Serves as a resource and escalation point for complex student cases.
  5. Manages the FFP pantry by promoting pantry access, tracking needs and requests of students, managing inventory, and providing information regularly to the BCFES Director and/or Administrative Associate on needs for purchasing inventory.
  6. In collaboration with other BCFES & FFP staff and leadership, utilizes data collected from the Strengths and Needs assessments to inform the creation and implementation of Fall/Spring workshop programs and Summer programming.
  7. Maintains a reduced caseload of students with a history of foster care to stay connected to direct service.
  8. Conducts intake screenings, strengths and needs assessments, and develops individualized success plans.
  9. Provides ongoing coaching and mentoring through in-person and virtual settings.
  10. Monitors student academic progress, communicating with each student on a personalized basis; intervening as necessary to assist those students having difficulty.
  11. Regularly uses student success technology (e.g., Civitas, Salesforce, etc.) to manage caseload, facilitate outreach, conduct campaigns, and input documentation/notes on student services and individualized success plans.
  12. Maintains accurate records of student advising, mentoring, tutoring, etc. contacts, progress toward degree, and other student learning activities.
  13. Supports students in navigating tuition and fee waivers, FAFSA, ETV, and other financial aid resources.
  14. Refers students to appropriate campus and community services.
  15. Maintains and utilizes a UTSA One Card to issue Emergency Funds.
  16. Designs and implements outreach campaigns to increase student engagement with FFP services, workshops, and resources.
  17. Coordinates communication efforts across the program, including newsletters, social media, and event promotion.
  18. Coordinates and plans events such as graduation celebrations, early start programming, etc.
  19. Analyzes engagement data to inform outreach strategies and improve student participation.
  20. Develops a working knowledge of tuition and fee waivers, federal Education and Training Voucher (ETV) program, FAFSA, and any other foster care specific education funding.
  21. Participates in meetings with campus/community champions to advocate for student wellbeing.
  22. Collaborates with FFP staff, Student Success units, and external partners to coordinate support.
  23. Promotes access to the FFP pantry and emergency funds.
  24. Collaborates with college Student Success Centers, Career Services, Academic Advising, Academic Support Programs, and other university departments to ensure coordinated support for students.
  25. Serves as a liaison between students and campus partners to facilitate access to tutoring, career readiness resources, advising, and other academic services.
  26. Represents FFP in campus-wide initiatives and committees focused on student success.
  27. Engages in ongoing training, including trauma-informed care and coach certification.
  28. Maintains compliance with FERPA, UTSA policies, and mandated reporting requirements.
  29. Upholds confidentiality and ethical standards.
  30. Performs other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • Three (3) year of related work experience.
  • This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.
