Heritage Research Group (HRG) is partnering with Orr Fellowship in the hiring of an early career individual for its Research & Enterprise Innovation teams. The groups this fellow will rotate through are Analytical Research, Engineering Research, Chemistry Research, Pavement Research and Enterprise Innovation group with various projects throughout the rotations.

The engineering rotation will involve using ChemCad, AutoCad, and Minitab and are typically related to problem solving for our operating companies or subsidiaries. The analytical projects are problem solving or capability development project using Gas and Liquid chromatographic or spectroscopic instrumentation (Raman, IR, Mass Spectrometry).

The chemistry projects typically involve beneficiating low value waste streams and by-products into higher value materials. The pavement projects are focused on asphalt and emulsion formulations and recycled asphalt recovery of binder. The business innovation projects will be centered on developing new cross-functional capabilities, businesses, and platforms of value for The Heritage Group by conducting business diligence and market research building upon technical innovations developed within HRG.

You'll work for two years as a full time employee at Heritage Research Group and join a cohort full of early career professionals doing the same. Outside of work, you'll participate in programming focused on continued learning and community building with 150 other early career professionals. Essential Functions
  • Guide research projects in collaboration with direct supervisor.
  • Mechanical aptitude and fine motor skills.
  • Able to do multiple tasks, and work on parallel projects.
  • Maintain a well-organized workspace.
  • Documentation skills consistent with strong laboratory record-keeping.
  • Effective communication skills (oral and written).
  • Know how to gather data and interpret basic data (x and y) with supervision.
  • Basic knowledge of literature research from scientific sources and be able to make conclusions/recommendations.
  • Complete 3 rotations across HRG and Enterprise Innovation teams to gain experience across our company. Each rotation is 8-months in duration.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, including but not limited to continuously growing in alignment with the Company's core values, competencies, and skills.


Education Qualifications

  • Required Bachelor's Degree Current college Senior pursuing a major in Chemical Engineering, or related field.

Skills and Abilities
  • Previous experience working in a laboratory environment (including academic lab courses).
  • Understanding and implementation of safe laboratory practices.
  • Candidates must be comfortable working in a laboratory.
  • Basic computer proficiency is required, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Desire to innovate and achieve excellence in research.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a larger team.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with peers, supervisors, and external collaborators.
  • Basic knowledge of statistics and data interpretation.
  • Basic knowledge of chemistry reactions and kinetics.
  • Basic knowledge of developing processes in the lab (chemistry reactions and tools to use).
  • Basic knowledge to develop and improve some basic processes (chemical or engineering) with supervision.
