The Division of Adult Institution is recruiting to fill an Institution Unit Supervisor position. This position is based out of Milwaukee Secure Detention Facility (Milwaukee, WI).
Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Deputy Warden, this position is responsible for the security, treatment, and general living conditions of all offenders assigned to the pods. The Institution Unit Supervisor is an administrator responsible for all activities with the unit; the development, implementation, and monitoring of overall Institution goals, policies, and procedures as part of the Institution Management Team and the direction of an Institution-wide program.
Salary Information

This position is in pay schedule/range 81/34 with an annual salary of $100526 - $116459 , plus excellent benefits. Pay on appointment for current state employees may vary according to the applicable pay transaction provisions of the State Compensation Plan, Wisconsin Administrative Code, and statutes. A twelve-month probationary period is required.

Job Details

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.
The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.
The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.
As public safety employees, remote work is not an option for these positions.
Qualifications

The qualifications listed below will be evaluated in the first step of the selection process and must be clearly described in the letter of qualification.
Minimally qualified applicants will have experience: Performing supervisory or lead-worker related activities (e.g. assigning, directing, and evaluating work of staff, performance evaluations, hiring, discipline, etc.) Participating in multi-disciplinary teams, committees, or work groups Managing the operating procedures of a work unit
In addition to the above, well qualified applicants will have experience: Developing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating security standards, policies and/or procedures in a secure setting. . Interpreting and implementing administrative rules and/or policies, ensuring compliance with standards.
