Under the general direction of the CEA B, Radio Communications Branch, the Information Technology Specialist II (ITS II) will function as a specialized consultant, advisor, and Program Manager for the development and implementation of the most complex projects and systems such as California Radio Interoperable System (CRIS) and California Public Safety Microwave Network (CAPSNET). The incumbent plays a major role in the development and interpretation of guidelines that are often used to formulate strategy and policy across the organization with impact to client agencies and subscribers of the systems , as well as the policies that govern the use and architecture of the systems. The IT Specialist II has responsibility and authority to plan, develop, and implement technological solutions essential to the deployment and maturation of the CRIS. Guidelines for performing the work are scarce or of limited use. Guidelines are broadly stated and nonspecific, such as broad policy statements requiring extensive interpretation. Uses initiative and resourcefulness in deviating from traditional methods or in researching emerging technologies to develop new methods, criteria, and/or new policies.

Working Conditions

Hybrid Telework: This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule. Additional in office days may be required based on the business need.

Conflict of Interest (COI): This position is designated under the Conflict of Interest Code and is required to complete Form 700 within 30 days of appointment. Failure to comply with the Conflict of Interest Code requirements may void the appointment.
