Job Summary:

About the Role & Program:

The Physical and Post-Production Technology (PPT) department spearheads cutting-edge technologies across Industrial Light & Magic, Lucasfilm, and other divisions of The Walt Disney Company. Our team is at the forefront of designing, implementing, and supporting physical and digital infrastructure for world-class dailies theaters, editorial suites, master control rooms, and motion capture stages. We are innovators, continuously researching and developing new solutions that shape the future of film and visual effects.

What You Will Do:

The PPT Internship blends hands-on experience with post-production studio environments and modern computer support. You will get a unique, behind-the-scenes look at how complex video and audio systems are created, supported, and maintained. From running video cables and PC building, to managing enterprise video networks, you’ll learn foundational skills required in a state-of-the-art production environment.

As a summer intern, you will work closely with our media systems engineers on real-world projects, including:

  • Supporting and upgrading Prod Pod rooms, editorial suites, and "View Rooms" (theaters used for visual effects review and approval)

  • Routine troubleshooting and maintenance for projection, OLED, editorial, and motion capture rooms

  • Assisting with departmental organization, equipment upkeep, and infrastructure improvements

  • Gain hands-on experience with audio and video system fundamentals

  • Learn about infrastructure design and integration in a professional setting

  • Understand the nuts and bolts of studio networking and video routing

  • Develop best practices for equipment maintenance and cable management in a dynamic work environment

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Passion for film, visual effects, and immersive technology

  • Interest in audio/video engineering and studio operations

  • Willingness to be hands-on with equipment and technical tasks

  • Experience with at least one operating system: Windows, macOS, or Linux

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a diverse team

  • Self-motivated with a proactive, positive attitude

  • Strong organization, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

  • Understanding of professional and consumer audio/video signal flow

  • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining Windows, macOS, and Linux systems

  • Skills in wiring, equipment installation, and cable management

  • Knowledge of basic computer networking principles

  • Familiarity with video compression (codecs, protocols, color spaces)

Education:

  • Pursuing a Graduate degree

  • Major or previous coursework in   Computer/Electrical Engineering, Video Production, Communications or other field-related divisions

Eligibility Requirements & Program Information:

  • Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program AND returning to school the semester/quarter following the internship OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.

  • Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants: You may only work for ONE consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program.

  • Be at least 18 years of age

  • Possess unrestricted work authorization
