We’re hiring a General Manager at Monarch Ski Mountain, a privately owned and highly successful ski company in the Rocky Mountains. This is a full-time, year-round position.
It is the GM’s responsibility to make sure Monarch Mountain runs efficiently and properly from the ground up.
Our current General Manager, who has been with the mountain for 24 years (10 years as the GM), will be staying on one more season to train and mentor his successor.
Monarch Mountain began in 1939 with one single 500-foot rope tow. Today, we enjoy 350+ inches of annual snowfall across 2,400+ acres of dynamic terrain (lift serviced and guided backcountry) and serve 1,500+ daily skiers of all ability levels.
We are seeking a visionary leader with at least 5+ years’ experience in ski resort management to lead our diverse team.We aren’t looking for just anyone. The right candidate will be committed to carrying on the Monarch legacy while also developing a strategy to lead the mountain into the future.
Monarch Mountain is a true rarity in the ski industry— our small group of private owners intend to maintain private ownership instead of selling out to a large corporate entity (a choice many resorts have made in the last few years). Our slogan is “Ski Independent” because we cultivate real connections with our teams and riders. It’s about more than a bottom line, it’s about fostering a culture we can live by resulting in awesome visitor experiences!
The General Manager will oversee a team of 3-5 Directors including Food Services, Sales & Marketing, Lift Operation, and Ski Patrol. These groups operate by employing 55 Managers who lead their teams in ensuring an amazing experience for all visitors.
Applicants must be financially savvy with the ability to manage a complex budget which includes year-round capital projects.
